Maasai Family
Maasai Family
We know the Maasai are a popular tribe from Tanzania and Kenya so we are happy to include a Maasai Family collection.
As the photos show, the woman has her head shaved clean while the man maintains a lock of hair that rolls down the middle of his head. It is known that the warrior men among the Maasai keep their hair in locks.
While appearing simple at first glance, the style of woodcarving is an intentional provocation of the primal images inspired by ancestral artworks. In other words, this style of carving is ancient and flows through our blood, evoking wonder, passion and a resonance that when accompanied with dance, drums and libations (or even the sanctity of silence), connects us to who we are and have been on this Earth.
